Change one light to green in a visible location-on your porch, in your home, or at your office-and keep it glowing every day as a symbol of appreciation and support for our veterans. Then, share your support by taking a picture of your green light and posting it using the hashtag #greenlightavet.

WHAT IS GREENLIGHT A VET?
America’s veterans are some of our nation’s bravest, hardest-working men and women. However, it’s hard to show them the appreciation they deserve when, back home and out of uniform, they’re more camouflaged than ever. Greenlight A Vet is a campaign to establish visible national support for our veterans by changing one light to green.

Dexter has saved the lives of countless American soldiers and Marines, and an untold number of innocent civilians. With his amazing nose, he managed to detect a garbage truck filled with C-4 explosives that would have killed hundreds of Americans.
Working 15 hours a day for six years straight, Dexter has truly earned his retirement. Getting the best food possible, and surrounded by friends, Dexter will live out the rest of his days in pure comfort, thanks to the amazing men and women of the Patriot Guard.
Dexter served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. But when he was set to be released from duty, it took the nonprofit group “Save-A-Vet” to rescue him from being euthanized.
“He’s got doctors that will work on him for free… He’s going to get a nice fat steak… If he gets along with people, we’ll bring him around people, if he gets along with animals, we’ll bring him to a farm so he can play with animals. Whatever he wants, we’ll give him, he’s earned it!”
For whatever reason, these brave animals aren’t yet classified as official “veterans” just as police dogs are classified as legitimate “officers.” However, Dexter is a special case; he’s getting the official ceremony that will induct him as an official veteran!
Thank goodness for Dexter and the countless animals that have saved American lives over the years. These animals risk their lives for their human friends, and thanks to dogs like Dexter, a lot of American families get the chance to say “welcome home” to their loved ones. But now it’s Dexter’s turn to be welcomed home!
Welcome home, Dexter, and congratulations!
Please SHARE this amazing story if you think all veteran animals deserve to be honored for their tough jobs in the military!
