A Judge Ordered The Florida Parents Of A Child With Leukemia To Continue With Chemotherapy

WOW - judge orders parents to comply with chemotherapy ordered by the original doctor - when they weren't happy with the physicians and sought a second opinion, this is what can happen??? And the child was taken away from their parents and put in the grandparents home?? Judge states they must comply with PROPER MEDICAL CARE - SO JUST WHAT IS THAT - there are many new treatments out there he surely is not aware of nor does he have the knowledge to make such a decision (in my opinion). The child is tramatized by doctors now and being separated from his parents because they failed to comply with chemo and were picked up by Hillsborough County Police. He received two rounds of chemo and Blood tests showed NO cancer. So how come they are forcing this on this child. I can not imagine this being forced on me or my husband (or our child) when we had cancer. Unfortunately, I did have chemo but that was 11 yrs ago (but never when I was cancer free per blood tests) my hubby did not - he had PROTON Therapy and had NO side effects at all and is cancer free - almost 2 yrs now. Proton Therapy is NOT a new treatment nor is immunotherapy and many other treatments - this judge may want to read up on this but I doubt he will. This case makes me so mad.... This case is Scheduled to go back to court in June - I will be watching the outcome of this outrageous order.

Another Great Story About Immunotherapy Treatment for Cancer. which I posted about in January Click here for that article.

If you missed the Parade magazine article on Sunday, this was a great article about Lori Alf and her success with this Therapy. This therapy is saving many lives for those not having to go thru Chemotherapy. Immunotherapy involves the use of a person’s own immune system to treat an infection or disease.

There are links in the article that direct you to Where you can Find Potential Trials and 5 questions to ask before joining a trial. What is most important to know is that most physicians do not know about the immunotherapy treatment or trials so you must tell them about it and even if they do know about it may not tell you - ask them how you can be a part of those trials. As Lori states in the article had she not researched her cancer and what is available as treatment, she would not have known either. But she did and that knowledge saved her life.”

Seven years ago I did not have this option so this is very promising for many.
I hope this will help anyone out there who is going thru their cancer journey.

Hope everyone had an Incredible New Years Eve and are ready for the Great Things to Come in the New Year.

I am very blessed that I got rid of my cancer since the doctors told me I would not live. They just don't know me very well I guess.   That was many years ago and I am still cancer free. I continually look for new things that help me do that. The past few months I have friends who have lost their loved ones to cancer and it is devastating to them and their families and friends. I also have good friends that are dealing with the after effects of Chemotherapy. I also talk to alot of people who ask for my help as to what I did to get rid of my cancer and how I keep it away. I have helped many I believe so that is a blessing to me.

I talked to a girl yesterday who has cancer, no insurance, doesn't even know what kind she has because she can't afford to go to the doctor, has two little girls, but has been doing many of the same things I did posted on this blog. She has been on Colonel Joe's diet, and Raspex powders which I take daily and other things.   I have not been able to get her out of my mind since we talked. I was lucky to have insurance and Rena Davis, Holistic Specialist who helped me - but to be in her situation I just can not comprehend what she must be going thru.

I was working early this morning and a news show came on about New Cancer Research that could replace Chemotherapy Treatment. It is called IMMUNOTHERAPY - the Doctor on the show talked about the successes they are having with this treatment and how it is saving lives from those not having to go thru Chemotherapy.   Immunotherapy involves the use of a person’s own immune system to treat an infection or disease.

So I started researching this - and my links are below for those that want to read about it. If you have know someone who has cancer please forward to them. There are Clinical Trials that they need people to be a part of as listed at the end of this article with a link to find Clinical Trials in your area. This is very exciting news.

About Clinical Trials

Cancer immunotherapy clinical trials are critical to bringing new and potentially lifesaving treatments to more patients with more types of cancer, and may represent the greatest hope for patients currently facing the disease. Many patients, however, are not aware of opportunities to participate in clinical trials and may find it difficult to identify trials that may be appropriate for them. This section is designed to educate patients about the basics of clinical trials, why clinical trials are so critical to our work, and things to consider about enrolling, as well as to assist patients in finding clinical trials for which they may be eligible.

URGENT NEED

Only 4 active immunotherapies have been approved for cancer, meaning that hundreds of other new and promising cancer immunotherapy treatments are only available to patients in clinical trials. Participating in clinical trials of these therapies may be the most promising option for cancer patients today, and will be critical to speeding the development and approval of new drugs for more patients in the future.
Only 2% to 3% percent of cancer patients who are eligible for clinical trials participate; this slows the clinical development process significantly, and means that more than 95% of cancer patients may be missing out on potentially lifesaving new treatments.
Many patients are not aware of clinical trials because their doctors do not inform them about these opportunities. We encourage patients to educate themselves about clinical trials, as well as to use our Cancer Immunotherapy Clinical Trial Finder to be matched with clinical trials for which they might be eligible, and to talk with their doctors about participating.
